DNV GL acquires 100% ownership of Presafe
DNV GL announced today that it has acquired 100% ownership of the EU Notified Body DNV GL Nemko Presafe (Presafe), which was until today a joint-venture together with the Oslo-based testing and certification company Nemko.
Presafe is an accredited Certification Body and EU Notified Body for Medical Devices and Hazardous Area Equipment. This move reinforces DNV GL’s long-held position as a provider of high quality and trusted certification for European markets and beyond. Presafe will be owned by DNV GL - Business Assurance.
“By assuming full ownership of the company, DNV GL secures a strong business foundation with single leadership, enabling it to create a more competitive and agile organization. We are now best placed to meet the challenges of the changing regulatory landscape while ensuring sustainable growth in the future,” says Luca Crisciotti, CEO of DNV GL-Business Assurance. “Operationally, this allows DNV GL to create a more focused service delivery organization, removing barriers and enabling us to be more responsive to the needs of our customers.”
Following the transfer of ownership, Nemko remains an important partner for Presafe and there are no changes to existing operational routines between the two organizations. Nemko will continue to offer conformity assessment services in the areas of Medical Devices and Hazardous Area Equipment through the Presafe organization. All customer relationships and maintenance of current certificates will continue as before.
This move increases technical capability for CE marking certification in North Europe thanks to the significant business which Presafe has built in Scandinavia. It is expected that synergies can be realized by expanding operations across North Europe in both legacy Presafe and DNV GL’s Product Assurance Services.
